My First Military Commission

Here's a commission I recently finished. I thought the lighting was really striking in the photo reference I got. It was an interesting challenge to try to maintain the simplicity of the lighting across the complex grouping of the troops. Hope you like it!

"Lieutenant-Colonel Conrad Mialkowski addressing his troops in the Mojave Desert during pre-deployment training for Kandahar." oil on canvas, 18"x 24"

That is an extremely sensitive painting! Well done!(I am referring to the painting and not the content, though they both are subject to my adjective.)
Very sophisticated.

I think you're officially a master painter. I hope I get to see this one when I get home. I'm painting in Switzerland right now. Crazy stuff.

Wonderful recession and light. Amazing colour considering the subject material is drab khaki and sand!
