July Portrait Painting Workshop in Nelson

Here are some photos of me doing a demonstration at a three day portrait painting workshop I taught in my hometown, Nelson, BC in July. We had a wonderful model, Genevieve, to paint from and everyone did great paintings.

And here are some photos of the stages for the painting that I demonstrated in the class.

The painting you did is breathtaking...I can't paint, but I would love to sit in on a class like that and just watch!

Congrats on your solo show!!

Aww, you're so sweet Katie! And what's all this stuff about you not being able to paint? You're a great painter!

Hey Kristy,
Are you still going to OCAD this year?
I'd be honored to be taught by you if you'll conduct a workshop like this in Toronto :)

It was a great workshop! Because you are a wonderful teacher.
I've only used oil paints once or twice befor and it was so useful to learn how to use them properly. All the layering without muddying and trying to keep the shadows translucent. I was really happy with the painting I came out with.

I see the Traveling Gordon Atelier is still in good order. Keep up the great work!

Thanks again for the wonderful workshop! You are a natural teacher and totally inspiring. I've had nothing but encouraging comment about my painting, not bad for a girl afraid to paint people! ps. my website update will be under Janna Kernan.com when its complete

Thanks guys and I'm glad you enjoyed the workshop so much Janna! It was great to meet you and you did a wonderful painting! Also, Amir, I'll be back in Toronto in about a year, and will probably set up some workshops there then, since others there have expressed interest as well. So I'll be sure to keep you posted about that;)

That painting that you have demonstrated is really fabulous. Makes a good portrait study.. Your art workshop seems interesting too.. I attending one on figure drawing and it was such a help.. I am soon to attend a few art classes on plein air.
